Team Composition:
Teams consist of 8 players. 6 players will be on the court at a time, with a maximum of 4 males on the court at a time.

Objective:
The primary objective of dodgeball is to eliminate all players on the opposing team by hitting them with a thrown ball while avoiding being hit yourself.

Court and Boundary:
Dodgeball will be played on a sand volleyball court.
The court will be divided in half by a center line, and surrounded by a boundary line.
Players may step out of the boundary to retrieve a ball, but may not throw until they are back in.

Game Duration:
Games will be 5 rounds.
Round Robin will play all 5 rounds.
Bracket play will play best 3 out of 5.
There will be a 7 minute time limit per round.

Starting the Game:
Players start the game by lining up along their baseline and waiting for a signal to begin.
The game will start with a "rush," where players race to the centerline to retrieve balls.

The Throw:
Players use the 6 GSL provided dodgeballs to throw at the opposing team.
No hitting above the shoulders. If the player is hit above the shoulders they will remain on the court. If the player intentionally uses their head to hit the ball the player is out.
Thrown balls can be blocked or caught by opponents to negate an “out."

Getting Out:
A player is out when they are hit by a thrown ball, either directly or via a deflection (e.g., the ball hits an object or another player before hitting the intended target).
If a player drops a ball they are holding while attempting to catch a throw, they are out.
If a player throws a ball from out of bounds, they are out.
If a player throws a ball and it is caught by an opponent, the thrower is out.

Catching:
If a player catches a thrown ball, the player who threw the ball is out, and one of their teammates who is out can return to the game.

Winning the Game:
The game is won by eliminating all players on the opposing team.
If there are still players on the court at the end of the time limit, the team with more players will be awarded the win.

Substitutions:
Substitutions are allowed between rounds.

Sportsmanship:
Dodgeball is a physical sport, but good sportsmanship is encouraged. Unsportsmanlike conduct can result in penalties or disqualification. Teams are expected to hold each other and themselves accountable.
