Golf Rules

  • Format: Match play is a form of play where a team plays directly against an opponent in a head-to-head match.

  • Weekly Games: Each week will have a different game variation. The games will be posted on the website above the tee times / schedule for that week.

  • Handicaps: There are no handicaps at 3’s Greenville.

  • Hole Scoring: In match play, scoring is based on the number of holes won or lost rather than the total number of strokes. The winner of the hole will receive 1 point. In the event of a tie hole, both teams will receive 1 point.

  • League Scoring: Points will be awarded at the completion of the round based on how many holes each team won.

  • Match Duration: Matches will be played over 12 holes.

  • Concession: A player may concede a hole to their opponent if they believe they cannot win it. Concessions can speed up play and are generally considered good sportsmanship. If the outcome of a hole has been determined, there is no need for the other team to finish out the hole.

  • Order of Play: The home team will have honors on the first hole. The winner of each hole will have the honors on the following hole.

  • Etiquette: Golf etiquette, including maintaining a reasonable pace of play and showing respect for opponents, is crucial in match play.

  • Match Winner: The player or team that wins the most holes in the match is declared the winner.

Subs: Teams are allowed 1 sub per season. That sub may only be used for 1 game.
