Before You Register

Is the website secure?
Absolutely!

I am new to GSL and I want to play, how do I find more information about upcoming leagues? (For example: Coed Flag Football, Winter season)
From the GSL home page, select "Play" to view the available sports. Leagues are listed under their respective sport. Click the green "Sign Up!" button to view more detailed information about each league.

What level of play is good for me?
If a league is listed as social it is designed for beginners with, less than 3 seasons of the sport of choice experience, falling in the bottom of your past leagues, or teams with a .58 win percentage and lower. In some leagues, it will also have rule modifications to make the game more focused on having fun rather than competition. Most of our leagues with 12 or more teams will use swiss scheduling. This method will make weekly schedules that are based on results from your previous game(s) played and keep the skill level of most games a lot closer than random scheduling. GSL leagues listed as doubles in softball are for those of a competitive nature.

What is the minimum number of players I need to start a team?
Each sport has a different minimum roster requirement, the answer can be found in the 'Format' section of that league page or league rules.

What is the cost per team?
The cost per team can be found in the 'Team Price' column of each sport's page.

What is the minimum age requirement?
Players must 21 or older to participate in GSL.

What is the deadline for registration?
The latest we will accept a team registration is 4 business days prior to the start of a league, or until that league fills up. If you're interested in participating, it is strongly recommended that you register sooner rather than later because many of our leagues sell out long before the beginning of the season.

Do I have to have a team to register?
NO!  Individuals and small groups are encouraged to register, especially if they don't know anybody and/or don't have enough players for a full team.  Every season, we create "Indy" teams comprised of individual registrants for the league. We build the rosters and send that information to the players so that they can contact each other prior to the start of the season.

Can I be placed on a team with my friend(s) or coworker(s)?
Yes! When you register as an individual, link the names of your friend(s) and/or coworker(s). We can place you on the same team.

What is the refund policy?
The only acceptable form of requesting to be withdrawn from a league is to email GSL.

There are absolutely no refunds for leagues or events that are modified.

  • Teams
  • Credits and Refunds - Processing fee is returned only if the league is canceled
  • 0-7 days prior to the league start - no credit and no individual/team processing fee*
  • 8+ days prior to the league start - provide credit but not individual/team processing fee*
  •
  • Individuals/Free Agents
  • There are NO refunds.
  • If a season is shortened for inclement weather or league format adjustments we will provide a credit for a future season.

Fees

What are the Team Sizes and Fees?
We’ll outline how our fees are structured, how to pay, and what the roster minimums and maximums are below:

  • Individual Registration (INDY)
Individual registration is comprised of a single participant or small group. In the case of a small group, we can ensure friends or co-workers are placed together on the same team if a request is made during the registration process. To make your request, simply link your requested teammates first and last name during  registration. Indys are placed on a team with other indys.
  •
  • Team Registration
A captain has the ability to pay the entire team fee or split it up so that each player on the team can pay his/her portion. When registering the team, the captain will be prompted to pay the team's deposit amount. Players may make payments towards the captain’s balance through the TeamPayer system. These payments made will lower the amount the captain is responsible for.

Payment Deadline

  • In the event that team fees are not paid in full by 10:00AM 4 days before the start of season, the captain’s payment method on file shall be automatically charged for any outstanding balance. By registering a team, the captain acknowledges and accepts full financial responsibility for all team fees and authorizes the league to process payment using the card on file should timely payment not be received.

  • More information on Payment Policies can be found on the Payment Policy Page.
  •
  • Corporate Teams
Companies often times need an unlimited amount of players. For GSL’s corporate team pricing structure please email greenville@playrecsports.com with your designated sport and day of the week.
  •
  • Team size ($9 extra player)
Each sport has a team size. The team size is the minimum number of roster spots that are required to be paid. There is not a maximum number of roster spots on a team; however, there is a $9 fee (payable BEFORE they play) for every player over the minimum. Once a player accepts the online roster invitation and waiver they count toward the roster size, even if they do not play again. Players cannot be “replaced” once they are on a team (ALL players must sign the online waiver before playing). If your team needs additional players, email the office at sports@playgreenville.com so that we can check your options.

Are there any additional fee associated with payments?

GSL uses software produced by League Lab Inc to handle its league administration, including payments. League Lab Inc may charge fees in addition to the GSL league fees when a payment is made through its software. League Lab Inc fees are non-refundable and will not be included in any refund issued by GSL.

Why am I being charged more than the team fee?
If the number of players invited to your team online exceeds the max roster number listed for your league, there will be an additional fee of $9/person.

What is the deadline for payment?
Payments are due by 4 business days before your first game of the season. Teams with outstanding balances, including extra player fees, will not be permitted to take the field.

Do registration fees include shirts?
No. League champion of top bracket will be awarded shirts or other prizes.

My team has a conflict with a game posted, can we reschedule?
Any season requests must be received before the schedule is posted. Once a schedule is posted we do not change for schedule requests. Any requests for a schedule change may incur a rescheduling fee.

Before The Schedule Is Released

Will games be played on holidays?
Leagues will not play on: Easter, Memorial Weekend (Sunday & Monday), 4th of July (weekend if applicable), Labor Day Weekend (Sunday & Monday), Thanksgiving (Wednesday-Saturday), Christmas, and New Years

Leagues WILL play on: Halloween, Mother's Day, Father's Day, and St. Patricks Day

Can I confirm that my team is registered?
Yes, when you log into your account, you will be able to view the status of your team through your player page.

How do I create a roster and invite others to play on my team?

First, select the team you are captaining under "Current Teams", then "Add Player" at the bottom to send player invitations via email to join your team. Those invited will be required to create an GSL login (if not currently a GSL website member), then will be able to accept or decline your team invitation.
ALL players must be invited to the team by the captain AND accept the online invitation in order to be listed on the team roster.
Roster checks with a government issued photo ID will be performed at the field before the first regular season and before every playoff game. Any roster substitutes MUST create a GSL player profile to accept a team invitation from the captain via the GSL website. A player must be listed on a team's online roster in order to be eligible to participate. All players who participate in a minimum of one game will be listed on a team's roster.  Any players that have not accepted the online invitation by midnight of the LAST GAME OF THE SEASON will not be eligible to participate in league playoffs. Rosters are open and able to be edited until the end of your final regular season game (midnight).

When will my schedule come out?
The league schedule is released when the league fills up, shortly after the regisration closes, or no later than 2 business days prior to the scheduled first game of the season.

Can I change my team name?
Only the designated team captain has the ability to change the team name. Captains can email sports@playgreenville.com to have their team name changed.

Can I change my password?
Your password can be changed through your player profile under the "Password" section.

Are we required to have uniforms?
Jerseys are not required. Teams should wear similar colored shirts (except bowling, cornhole & volleyball). To avoid team color conflicts, teams need to bring to colors of shirts (example: black & white) to each game of the season. Numbers on the back of shirts are required in basketball.

Does GSL provide softballs/kickballs?
GSL only provides equipment to GSL's Individual teams, when applicable. We DO NOT provide equipment for other teams, but can sell you any quantity you want for an extra charge.

  • Kickballs - $15/ball
  • Softballs - $7/ball
  •

What bats/balls are approved for softball?
View our Bat List on the softball rules pages.

Individual Registration Questions:

  • I am not showing up on any teams, when will I be assigned?
If you have registered as an individual for a league, you will begin receiving email notifications from us (with roster and contact information for your team) at the very latest 2 business days prior to the schedule first game of the season. We generally will begin sending information as soon as we know we will have enough players to finalize the "Indy" team.
  •
  • Will I be placed on an existing team?
Individual registrants will be placed on a team call the "Indys" created by GSL along with the other individuals who have signed up for the same sport and division. On very rare occasion, players will be placed on existing teams.

During The Season

What happens when there is inclement weather?

GSL makes every effort to play all scheduled games. Games may be delayed, postponed, or canceled due to weather, dangerous or unplayable field conditions, facility restrictions, or other safety concerns.

Because weather and field conditions can change quickly, GSL will not cancel games until necessary. Weather decisions are typically made around 4:00 PM on the day of play. Unless a cancellation or delay has been announced, teams should assume games are being played as scheduled.

Weather Updates & Cancellations

All cancellations and weather updates will be posted to the GSL website, Facebook page, and X (Twitter). GSL does not individually call or email teams regarding cancellations. Captains are responsible for checking for updates and communicating them to their teammates.

If inclement weather develops after league play has begun, GSL staff and officials will communicate delays or cancellations on site and post updates online as quickly as possible.

Lightning & Severe Weather

If lightning is detected within an 8-mile radius of a playing location, games will be paused. During a lightning delay, players should seek appropriate shelter, such as inside a building or in their vehicles, and should not remain on or immediately adjacent to the playing area.

Games may resume once lightning has moved out of the 8-mile radius and conditions meet GSL's safety requirements. Rain alone does not necessarily result in a cancellation.

Rainouts & Rescheduling

When games are canceled, teams should continue following the existing schedule for the following week. For example, if the April 13 games are canceled, teams should play their regularly scheduled April 20 games the following week. Canceled games will be rescheduled later in the season when possible.

Rainout makeups may result in doubleheaders or games being scheduled on a different day or night than the league's regularly scheduled day.

GSL makes every effort to provide the full number of games scheduled for each league. However, facility availability, scheduling limitations, and repeated weather cancellations may make it impossible to make up every game.

Weather Credits

For our standard seasons, teams are scheduled for a minimum of 8 game opportunities — 7 regular-season games plus at least 1 playoff game.

If weather cancellations that cannot be rescheduled reduce a team's season below this minimum, GSL will issue a credit for the affected game(s).

Shorter, Quickie, tournament-style, or other specialty leagues (ie. Pickleball) may have a different number of scheduled games and will be evaluated based on the advertised format for that league.

Credits are issued after the season once all opportunities to reschedule have been exhausted.

My team is going to have to forfeit, what do I need to do?
Notifications of forfeits must be sent by EMAIL ONLY to the GSL office by 4PM on weekdays and 8AM on weekends. This allows us time to notify the opponent of the forfeiture so they don't go to the park. If notifications are not received by the deadline, the team captain will be invoiced a fee and the opposing team will be rewarded with a gift certificate to the sponsor bar for that season or to GSL. A win will be awarded to the team not at fault, and any team with a forfeit will automatically drop to the bottom of any tie breaking situation in league standings.

Teams that are notified of a forfeit before arriving to a facility will not receive a gift card. Teams that play one game out of a doubleheader will not receive a forfeit gift card.

*Teams are required to pay the fee online before they are eligible to play the following week. Teams that forfeit 2 times according our policies will be removed from the league without a refund or credit.

**Forfeit fees cannot be collected from teams who have dropped out of the league or during playoff/tournament games. Therefore, opponents will not receive a gift card.

***Weather supersedes forfeits

League Playoffs

When will the league playoffs begin?
Typically, league playoffs will begin the week following the final regular season games and will be played on the same day as the regular season. In the case of 2 or more rainouts during the season, GSL reserves the right to host games on days other than a normal day of play.

How do the standings determine the seeding?
Teams are seeded according to ranking points, forfeits, winning percentage, head to head competition, point differential, points against and points for. Any team with a recorded forfeit will automatically fall to the bottom of any tie breaker situation.
